1970's Demi-Couture 4-Piece Jumpsuit Ensemble
gray "croc" print silk georgette jumpsuit, tunic and scarf - fine heavy wool jacket in the same print - all the hallmarks of American couture or demi-couture (silk lined, hand-finishing everywhere, self-covered snaps, etc.)
Frederick & Nelson
Mel's Notes: Frederick & Nelson was a high-end department store that housed special boutiques for Blass, Halston and the like. Sadly this piece has no label - it appears to have been removed, leaving only the small size "8" tag in its wake. (You can see the area where the large tag would have been - most similar in size and shape to Blass, but who knows? What's clear is that this was a pièce de resistance in someone's wardrobe. It definitely has a kind of Mad Max vibe when worn altogether - 70's Nomad chic? Anyway, it's one of the best ensembles I've ever found.
